A 43-year-old man, Edebiri Temitope, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command over the alleged killing of his 38-year-old neighbour, Oje Michael Eje, after accusing him of hugging and playing with his three-year-old child.

Eje, a university graduate with a degree in Guidance and Counselling, was reportedly attacked by Temitope, who allegedly became enraged over what he considered the deceased’s “rough play” with his child.

According to the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Boluwatife Babaseyi, the suspect, who was earlier reported to be at large, has now been arrested in connection with Eje’s death.

Babaseyi said Temitope has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.

Reports had indicated that the suspect allegedly grabbed a bamboo stick and repeatedly struck Eje during the confrontation, causing him to collapse and eventually die.

Following the incident, Temitope was reportedly said to have fled the area with his family, prompting efforts by the police to track him down.

The police spokesperson confirmed the suspect’s arrest, adding that the investigation would establish the circumstances surrounding the death and guide further action.
