Senator Solomon Adeola, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, has threatened legal action against Hon. Abayomi Hunye and Ambassador Folake Marcus-Bello over alleged false and defamatory claims about his origin.

Adeola, who represents Ogun West in the Senate, said the two had made the claims during separate interviews on Channels Television programmes, alleging that he is an indigene of Ekiti State.

In a statement signed by his Media Adviser, Chief Kayode Odunaro, on Tuesday, Adeola gave Hunye and Marcus-Bello 24 hours to publicly provide evidence supporting their allegations or face lawsuits.

Adeola described the claims as “outrageous lies,” accusing his critics of attempting to use allegations about his ancestry and the burial locations of his parents to sustain what he called a false narrative.

“Enough is enough. They should produce their evidence in 24 hours or be ready for my lawsuits,” the senator said.

The APC candidate said the allegation about his alleged Ekiti origin had previously been deployed as a political strategy to frustrate his emergence as senator representing Ogun West, but failed as voters in the district elected him in the 2023 National Assembly election.

He further alleged that the renewed claim was part of efforts to undermine his ambition ahead of the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.
