Troops neutralise terrorist, recover four motorcycles in Katsina
Troops of Sector 1, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised a terrorist and recovered four motorcycles and other items during a dawn offensive operation in Dan Musa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The operation was conducted on September 4, 2026, following credible intelligence on the presence of terrorists in the general area of Yantumaki Forest.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North West), Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the troops launched a coordinated offensive against the terrorists.
He said the troops engaged the terrorists with maximum firepower, forcing them to flee into the surrounding bushes.
Danja said that during the exploitation of the area, the troops confirmed the neutralisation of one terrorist and recovered four motorcycles, one mobile phone and five empty intravenous drip containers.
The containers were suspected to have been used in treating terrorists who sustained injuries during previous operations.
The task force said the operation demonstrated the troops' continued commitment to sustaining pressure on terrorist networks, degrading their operational capabilities and denying them freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA also urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies by providing relevant and timely information that could assist ongoing efforts to eradicate terrorist elements within the Joint Operations Area.
The statement was signed by Danja on September 5, 2026.
