The aspiration of former governorship candidate in Ogun State, Ladi Adebutu, to contest the 2027 governorship election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, received a significant boost after he was officially cleared by the party’s Governorship Screening Committee.

Adebutu was screened alongside other aspirants at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata House, in Abuja as part of the party’s mandatory verification and eligibility process ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued on Saturday by his media aide, Afolabi Orekoya, the PDP chieftain was said to have successfully passed the screening exercise, a development supporters described as a major step in his bid to emerge as the party’s standard bearer in Ogun State.

According to the statement, the clearance has generated excitement among party members and supporters across the state, with many viewing it as a positive signal for the future of the party ahead of the governorship race.

Orekoya noted that Adebutu’s political experience, grassroots appeal, and commitment to democratic governance continue to strengthen his standing within the PDP and Ogun political landscape.

“The clearance is not just a procedural victory, but a reflection of confidence in his competence, eligibility, and vision for Ogun State,” the statement said.

Supporters of the former governorship candidate also expressed optimism that the next stages of the political process would consolidate the growing support around his aspiration.

Adebutu, who contested the 2023 Ogun governorship election, has consistently advocated policies focused on economic development, youth empowerment, education, infrastructure renewal, and improved welfare for residents of the state.

With the screening process concluded, attention is now expected to shift to the PDP governorship primary as political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 elections in Ogun State.
