Pantami’s Camp Urges Calm over INEC’s Omission of PDP, Candidate from Gombe List
The camp of former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Pantami, has appealed to his supporters to remain calm following the omission of his name and that of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) published list of candidates for the 2027 Gombe State governorship election.
The appeal was contained in a statement issued by the spokesperson of the Pantamiyya Movement, Professor Suleiman Mohammed, and shared on Pantami’s official Facebook account.
Mohammed described the development as a temporary challenge in the electoral process rather than a final determination of Pantami’s political future.
“This is a temporary challenge and a normal part of the electoral process, not a final determination, in sha Allah,” the statement said.
According to the statement, Pantami’s camp was aware that his name was missing from the list despite his emergence as the PDP governorship candidate following a fresh primary election conducted on September 29, 2026.
The primary was conducted following an order by the Federal High Court in Gombe, which necessitated another exercise to determine the party’s candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
However, while candidates of several other political parties were included in INEC’s published list, neither Pantami nor the PDP appeared on the list.
Although the statement did not disclose whether the party or Pantami would seek clarification from INEC, pursue an administrative resolution or initiate further legal action, the movement urged supporters not to interpret the omission as a final decision on his participation in the election.
Mohammed called on PDP members and supporters of the Pantamiyya Movement to remain hopeful, composed and focused as the electoral process unfolds.
