The Oke-Ata Area Community Development Committee (CDC) in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State has taken delivery of a transformer donated by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Ogun Central Senatorial District, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello.

This brings to fruition a promise she made during her recent engagement with residents of the area.

The arrival of the transformer was greeted with jubilation across the benefiting communities, with residents turning out in large numbers to receive and appreciate the former senator.

The reception, described by residents as carnival-like, also provided an opportunity for the communities to publicly acknowledge Obasanjo-Bello's intervention in addressing one of their longstanding infrastructure needs.

The development followed Obasanjo-Bello's visit to the Oke-Ata Area CDC on August 22, 2026, as part of her grassroots engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections.

During the visit, the community leadership highlighted several challenges confronting the area and commended her for providing the transformer.

The CDC Chairman, Hon. Kareem Ademuyiwa, had specifically acknowledged the donation while presenting other pressing needs of the communities.

At the meeting, the community leadership indicated its readiness to take responsibility for transporting the transformer to its destination and appealed to Obasanjo-Bello to ensure that the equipment was eventually delivered.

The senator subsequently reiterated her commitment to facilitating its delivery, a pledge that has now been fulfilled.

The electricity intervention also came alongside another commitment by Obasanjo-Bello during the same engagement.

In response to the community's appeal for a primary healthcare centre, the former Ogun State Commissioner for Health donated N500,000 to the Oke-Ata Area CDC to commence preliminary activities towards the proposed facility.

She also pledged to pursue the completion of the project if elected to the Senate in 2027.
