A group of former political functionaries who served in local government positions between 2016 and 2019 have called on Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State to pay their outstanding entitlements which include furniture and severance allowances.

According to a statement signed by a former Vice Chairman of Abeokuta North local government, Ishaq Bada, several letters written to the authorities have yielded no response.

According to the statement, several letters have been written to the governor, the Secretary to the State government and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

They express disappointment and shock at the governor plans to spend N2.4 billion on cars for lawmakers and his aides while neglecting their entitlements.

The group, comprising former council executive chairmen, executive vice chairmen, councilors, and Secretaries to the Local Government (SLGs), said it is unfair for the governor to propritise aides and lawmakers luxuries over their entitlements.

They emphasize that their statutory benefits have lost value since their exit in October 2019.

The former functionaries appeal to political leaders in Ogun State, former governors, and the general public to urge Governor Abiodun to prioritize their entitlements, as his predecessors did.

They request prompt payment of their gratuities and benefits, stressing that they are still alive and deserve to receive their dues for dedicated service to the state
