The Chief Mufasir of Ilorin Emirate, Sheikh Uthman Sannu Shehu has charged Muslims within the corridors of power to be up and doing in the discharge of their responsibilities, saying accounts of stewardship shall be rendered in the hereafter.

The cleric said this while delivering a topic titled 'Islam and Good Governance, Muslim Role' during the 2023 Ramadhan lecture of Albarka Society of Nigeria, in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

Sheikh Shehu implored all the people in government not to be carried away with this life which he said is ephemeral, but to be conscious of the life after.

He warned against the repercussions of attitude of many politicians who remember people only when their votes are being sought after, only to abandon them after getting to the office.

He warned that both people in government and the electorate must fear Allah as one day will be for accountability.

The National Chief Missionary of the Society, Dr Mutiu Agboke said the topic of the lecture was timely considering the fact that after the election, the next thing is governance.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner of Osun State implored all the electorate to keep praying for the elected politicians so as to fulfil all the electoral promises.

The lecture was attended by the President of the society, Alhaji Ishaq Junaid; Hon Mutairu Ajayi, the chairman Abeokuta branch; and Dr Agboke, amongst others.

Prayers were offered to the soul of the late founder of the society, late Alhaji Tajudeen Olanrewaju Adeosun.
