Governor of Jigawa State, Muhammad Badaru has described Senator Ibikunle Amosun, the presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has a brilliant politician who transformed Ogun State to what it is today.
Badaru spoke on Friday when the former Governor visited Jigawa to seek the support of delegates for his presidential ambition ahead of May 29 and 30 primaries.
The Jigawa Governor described Amosun as a dedicated, transparent and hardworking politician, the traits, according to Badaru, he learnt and developed from President Muhammadu Buhari.
Badaru who spoke at the Manpower Development Institute said, "Governor Amosun is one of the finest Governor's produced in this country. If you have been to his state before he became Governor and after his tenure, you will see great transformation, even the Emir confirmed that.
"For him, it is Buhari that is the deciding factor in everything he does. And he has emulated and developed the transparency, the dedication, hardwork and concern of a comma man President Buhari has.
Speaking on his agenda for Jigawa State, Amosun said if he is elected president, attention would be paid to Jigawa with the aim of boosting its agricultural potential and making it one of the food baskets of the Nation.
Jigawa is known for its high concentration of date palm farms.
Amosun said the date palm industry in the state will receive a boost, adding that farmers would learn new methods and skills to enable them improve on production.
“If elected, we will make Jigawa one of the food baskets of Nigeria. We will do this by making sure that we feed Nigerians with quality date palm and provoke its exportation to West Africa,” NAN quoted him as saying.
“So, on May 29 and 30, I need your support, Jigawa delegates. I will count on your support, and even if you don’t see me on those days, remember what we discussed.”
Amosun had, on May 5, declared his intention to contest the presidency.
Speaking on his ambition, he had said it was in response to calls to to contribute towards developing Nigeria.
“This is to honour the historic call and duty to honour the next phase of our collective journey to national glory. It is a duty to renergise our faith in the future of country even in the face of threats to our national sovereignty by insurgents and terrorists. A duty to renew hope in our collective destiny even in the light of some doubts expressed and mobilised about our shared faith,” he had said.
The Senator eho was welcomed into the State by the Govenror also visited thr Palace of the Emir of Dutse, His Royal Highness, Nuhu Mohammadu Sanusi, in Garu.
