The Senator representing Lagos West in the National Assembly, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, has been declared winner of the Ogun West Senatorial primary on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, conducted in Ilaro area of Ogun State on Saturday.
Adeola, popularly called Yayi, defeated the incumbent Senator, Tolu Odebiyi.
According to the electoral panel led by Dr Dapo Odukoya, the Lagos Senator polled the whole 294 accredited votes while Odebiyi scored zero votes.
He won at Senatorial primaries held at Orona Hall, Ilaro, the Headquarters of Yewa South Local Government Area of the State.
The Lagos West Senator recently relocated to the state and joined Ogun West Senate race, in a sweeping movement tagged "West2West Agenda."
Earlier, Odebiyi had said he was the only aspirant vying for the ticket in the ongoing party's primaries for the zone.
Speaking with newsmen, Odebiyi said he remains the only aspirant in the primaries describing the Lagos Senator as a visitor.
He noted that each of the two other aspirants, a three time member of the House of Representatives, Abiodun Isiaq Akinlade and three - time governorship candidate in the state, Prince Gboyega Nasiru Isiaka (GNI) had stepped down days earlier to take up House of Representatives tickets.
This is coming amidst litigation over the qualification of the serving Senator from Lagos State to participate in the primary election.
A Motion on Notice sighted by HorizonTimes had sought for an order of interlocutory injunction restraining Yayi, the first defendant, and the APC, the second defendant from participating in the process of the election leading to the 2023 general election.
The motion which was filed on Friday, was instituted by Adebiyi Adeyinka Tajudeen, Olajumoke Ibrahim and Muideen Akintade as the plaintiffs, while the Independent National Electoral Commission, was joined as the third defendant.
They had described the movement of Adeola from Lagos West to Ogun West as undemocratic, illegal, abnormal and denigrating to the political integrity of people of Ogun West.
They further argued that the law is settled that no one can claim two wards, two local governments and two states at the same time.
The case filed at the Federal High Court Abeokuta, was marked FHC/AB/CS/73/22.
