Unlike what happened in the just concluded Ekiti State Governorship Election, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, seems to be battle ready for the Osun State Governorship Election with the constitution of 128 Campaign Council Members.

While the rumour of possible defection from the party has continued to dominate discourse recently, Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, was named as a member of the Council chaired by the Bayelsa state governor, Senator Duoye Diri.

Also, members of the council are 12 out of the 13 governors on the platform of the party, with the exception of Delta state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, who is the party Vice presidential candidate of the Party.

The Campaign Council, which will be inaugurated, Wednesday, has other key stakeholders of the party as members.

A statement signed by the party National Organizing Secretary, Hon. Umar Bature, PDP said, "The National Working Committee (NWC) of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), under the able leadership of our National Chairman, H.E. Sen. Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, has approved the appointment of the underlisted Party stakeholders to serve on the Osun State gubernatorial National Campaign Council for the upcoming Governorship Election in Osun State on Saturday July 16, 2022."

The party, has, however urged all the 128 members to make themselves available at the inauguration on Wednesday, adding, "all council members are kindly requested to be available for inauguration."

The NWC of the Party ignored the Ekiti Governorship Election with neither the Committee or the presidential candidate of the Party seen openly campaign for the Candidate and the Party.

NWC also failedto constitute campaign Council for the election where PDP came distance third behind the All Progressives Congress and the Social Democratic Party, PDP.
