Troops Rescue 13 Kidnap Victims, Foil Terrorist Operations in Zamfara
Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have rescued 13 kidnapped victims and thwarted terrorist operations during separate intelligence-led missions in Zamfara State.
The Nigerian Army said the operations were carried out following credible intelligence on the movement and activities of armed terrorists in parts of the state.
The troops reportedly engaged the criminals in separate encounters, forcing them to abandon their captives and flee under sustained military pressure.
According to the military, all 13 rescued victims were safely evacuated and are receiving necessary medical attention, while efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing terrorists and dismantle their operational bases.
The operations also disrupted planned terrorist activities in the affected communities, as troops recovered items abandoned by the fleeing suspects during the encounters.
Operation Fansan Yamma has intensified intelligence-driven offensives across Zamfara and other North-West states in recent weeks, targeting terrorist hideouts, kidnapping syndicates and other criminal elements responsible for persistent attacks in the region.
Military authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining the offensive until criminal groups operating in the region are neutralised, while urging residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing operations.
