A social critic, Femi Aribisala, has accused the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the forthcoming 2023 general election, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu of committing perjury.

The columnist was reacting to the details of forms E9 of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, which contained particulars of the former Lagos State Governor as Presidential Candidate.

In the form which has gone viral, Tinubu, did not state his primary and secondary schools’ qualification, including the year of graduation from those elementary schools.

He however listed Business Administration as a qualification for higher school where he said to have obtained a BSc in 1979.

Meanwhile, in an affidavit in respect of lost document attached to the form, the former Governor claimed that all documents relating to his qualification were looted when he was on exile between 1994 – 1998.

Part of the affidavit with which he contested the Lagos Governorship seat reads, “I went of self exile from October 1994 to October 1998 when I returned and discovered that all my properties including all the documents relating to my qualification and my certificates in respect of paragraph 3 above were looted by unknown persons.”

In paragraph three of the affidavit, Tinubu claimed to have obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics, Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and qualified as Certified Public Accountant.

He went further, “My house was the target of series of searches by various security agents from the time the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was forced to adjourn – following the military takeover of Government on 17th November, 1993…”

Meanwhile in an earlier INEC form which has also gone viral, Tinubu claimed to have attended St. Paul Aroloya Children Home School, Ibadan and Government College Ibadan, for his elementary schools.

While reacting to the development vis his twitter handle, @femiaribisala, Aribisala said the affidavit that Tinubu attended Government College Ibadan between 1965 and 1968 was false, adding that he was in the School between 1962 and 1968 and Tinubu was not in that school.

He wrote, “I wrote in 2014 that Tinubu’s affidavit that he attended Government College Ibadan (GCI) between 1965 and 1968 is false. I was in GCI from 1962 – 1968, and Tinubu was not there.

“Tinubu now tells INEC he did not go to primary or secondary school. This means he committed perjury.”

From other tweets on his page, Aribisala has been campaigning for the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi.

HorizonTimes also observed that Tinubu did not claim not to have attended both primary and secondary school, he only left the spaces provided for both empty.

A Tweep, @show4ril, however queried if it is possible for Aribisala toidentify all students in the school asking the school tocomeout and deny Tinubu.

He twitted, "You were in GCI, soyou knew everyone whileyou were there. Sir please let the school comeout and make the claim, you are not in the right place to do that, you have a little or no information at all.

But anothe Tweep, Sunnybobo countered whwn he said, "I knew almost, if not all the guys that attended St. Teresa's college, Nsukka with me between 2001 to 2007. He may be right."

Tinubu's age and educational background has been conctentious since the time he ventured into politics. apetition was written in 1999 by one Ahlaji Hammed Seriki and Dr Waliu Balogun-Smith, upon which the late Gani Fawehinmi went to court seekingfor prosecution of Tinubu.

Fawehinmi, a human right lawyer, lost the case as the Supreme Court ruled that only the Lagos State House of Assembly could investigate Tinubu and not the police.

The case was also adjudged statute barred when an attempt to reopen the case was filed by one Dr Dominic Adegbola in 2013.
