Stakeholders at the just concludes 5th Tech Summit, Ogun, have underscored the need for Nigeria to remain relevant within the digital landscape for emerging market and economic development.
At the 2-day event which was held at the June 12 Cultural Center, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, the stakeholders also advocated for the realisation of digital transformation for future development.
A Human Resources expert, Emmanuel Nwalor Jnr. said Nigeria needs to soar above competitions that rise with the digital market.
Others speakers at the summit encouraged young tech enthusiasts to identify their basic skill sets in digital world towards actualizing the future they dream of.
They were also encouraged to do a soul search of career opportunities using innovations and creativity and adapt to emerging trends.
Speaking on building a Digital Workforce and bridging the skill gap for future success, Fintech and Financial Inclusion in Nigeria and empowering the undeserved with focus on entrepreneurship and start-ups in Digital Age.
Panelists opined that there is need to bridge the knowledge gap on funds made available by Fintech for Technology businesses to thrive.
Also discussing the need for driving innovations through co-creation communities towards exploring the power of living labs Digital transformation, speakers enjoined participants to leverage on various opportunities afforded by social media to meet up with global demands of products and services as well as with global competition.
The Ogun State Government, reiterated its resolve to ensure that digital technology is adopted to drive its various developmental agenda.
This, it said will be achieved by opening a pathway for youthful technological talents discovery, nurture and empower them in order to place Ogun on a global map of unmatched innovations and technological advancement.
The State Governor, Dapo Abiodun stressed this while declaring open the summit Ogun tagged Disruptive innovation: Digital technology for shaping the future.
The Governor, represented by the Special Advisee on ICT, Dayo Abiodun, noted that Ogun is working towards becoming Nigeria's Silicon Valley by giving support to technology driven professionals but and taking advantage of ICT initiatives targeted at attracting more investors.
Convener of the 5th Tech Summit, Ayoola Olaniyi, while welcoming participants, said the summit was put together five years ago with a view to ensuring that Ogun State takes the front row in digital and technology talents hunt and also to chart a new course for advancement in line with global best practices.
Olaniyi charged participants to see themselves as drivers of Nigeria's economy in years to come, adding that the progress and sustainable development of the country hinge on technology initiatives of youths.
The 2-day event was well attended by technology experts, disruptors, creators, innovators, startups, organizations and tech enthusiasts.
The Tech Summit Ogun started in 2018 with a convergence of tech innovators, disruptors and enthusiasts coming together to brainstorm and chart a new way of advancing technological economy in Nigeria.
