The Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS) has commended Dangote Cement Ibese Plant for its exceptional tax compliance and consistent role as the state’s highest industrial taxpayer.

During a familiarisation tour of the 12-million-metric-tonne-per-annum Ibese Plant, the OGIRS delegation led by Director, Field Operations, Oluwaseun Olajube, lauded the company’s management for its dedication to fulfilling civic obligations.

She noted that Dangote Cement has set a benchmark for corporate responsibility and financial transparency in Ogun State.

Olajube emphasised that strengthening partnerships with key industrial stakeholders remained crucial to driving sustainable economic growth and revenue generation in the state.

She urged the Ibese Plant not to relent in its compliance efforts while calling for timely documentation and closer collaboration with the Yewa North Zonal Office of the Service.

She said, “Dangote Cement Ibese Plant continues to demonstrate excellence in tax compliance, and we are proud to acknowledge their contribution to the economic development of our state.”

Receiving the OGIRS team, Ibese Plant Director, Ayyagari Subbaraidu, expressed appreciation for the recognition, describing it as a validation of the company’s commitment to integrity, leadership, and responsible corporate citizenship.

According to him, the acknowledgement underscored the role of private sector players in sustainable revenue generation and support for public infrastructure and services.

“We recognise that tax revenue is the backbone of economic development of States and remain committed to upholding the principles of compliance, accountability, and transparency in all our engagements with government agencies,” Subbaraidu said.

The visit, both parties noted, marked another step towards strengthening public-private sector synergy to drive Ogun State’s development agenda.

It will be recalled that Dangote Industries Limited (DIL), the parent company of Dangote Cement, disclosed that it paid over N402 billion in taxes to the federal government in 2024, making it Nigeria’s highest taxpayer.

The Group was recently recognised by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) as the nation’s most tax-compliant business organisation.

In addition, Dangote Industries and its subsidiaries bagged multiple awards, including the FMDQ GOLD Award for being the most active corporate organisation in Nigeria’s foreign exchange market.

Dangote Cement Plc also emerged as the issuer of the largest commercial paper quotation and single largest corporate debt issue on the FMDQ platform.

The FMDQ GOLD Awards (Global Competitiveness, Operational Excellence, Liquidity, and Diversity) celebrate organisations whose resilience and contributions have positively shaped the Nigerian financial markets and supported economic development.
