Super Eagles Striker, Victor Osimhen has joined the league of former strikers Rasidi Yekini and Onyeali by scoring four goals past Sao Tome and Principe in the day two of the African Cup of Nations qualifier on Monday.
The Napoli striker, led the onslaught, by also assisting two others goals in a match that ended 10:0 in favour of the Eagles.
The last time the Nigerian team scored 10 goals, the highest international victory, was before independent in 1959 against Dahomey, now, the Republic of Benin.
Osimhen’s goals were complemented by Terem Moffi’s brace as Nigeria thrashed Sao Tome.
The game also saw Ademola Lookman scored his first goal for Nigeria, same as Emmanuel Dennis who won and scored a penalty with the last kick of the match.
Other scorers were Oghenekaro Etebo with a sublime free kick, and Captain for the day Moses Simon.
Osimhen open the scoring chat by latching on to fine cross from the left wing getting a good header past the opponent goalie in the 9th minute before assisting Simon to double the lead at the 28th minute.
Moffi took the game beyond the Sao Tome with the third shortly before the half time, he was also assisted by Osimhen.
Osimhen scored another header five minutes to open the scoring for the second half five minutes into the game, Etebo scoring his first goal of the day on the 55th minute with a well-placed free kick from the left side, while Moffi got his second for the day five minutes later.
Lookman scored his first goal for the team two minutes later, with Osimhen recording his first ever hattrick at the international stage at the 65th minute.
At 84th minutes, Osimhen scored his fourth, with Dennis scoring from the spot in the 92nd minutes to complete the thrashing of Sao Tome with no shot on target.
The win took Nigeria to the summit of the group with six points.
