The General President of the Two Holy Mosques, Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Abdul Rahman Ibn Abdul Aziz al-Sudais has completed the recording of the first Qur’an at the studios of the Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques.

The recording was the first time in history the General President will be recording Qur’an in a studio.

The recording, according to the Presidency, will be published very soon across various platforms on television, radio and online.

The announcement was made by the presidency on its social media handles.

“The Presidency announces the good news of the completion of the recording of the first Qur’an recited by the General President Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al Sudais in the Presidency Studio and it will be published soon In Sha Allah.”

On the occasion of the completion, the General President honoured the Readers Committee in the presence of a number of Imams of the Two Holy Mosques.

The 62 year old Sheikh Al-Sudais comes from the Anazzah clan in Saudi Arabia, and had memorized the Quran by the age of 12.

Growing up in Riyadh, Al-Sudais studied at the Al Muthana Bin Harith Elementary School, afterwhich he proceeded to the Riyadh Scientific Institution from which he graduated in 1979 with a grade of excellent. 

He obtained a degree in Sharia from Riyadh University in 1983, his Master's in Islamic fundamentals from the Sharia College of Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University in 1987 and received his Ph.D. in Islamic Sharia from Umm al-Qura University in 1995 while working there as an assistant professor after serving at Riyadh University.

At just 24-years Sudais took up his imamate in 1984, and conducted his first sermon at Masjid Al-Haram in July same year.

Other than this Sheikh Saud Al-Shuraim - has been his partner in Taraweeh Prayers from 1994 till 2006, and again in 2014, 2019 and 2020.  They were titled Twins of the Haram.
