The House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) has released its preliminary report, clearing Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, of any involvement in the appointment of the council’s purported Director-General, Adeniyi Adeyemi.

The committee, chaired by Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, said its investigation uncovered 58 bank accounts and 12 agencies and entities allegedly linked to Adeyemi.

The panel was constituted by the House following controversy over the inclusion of the PFIPC in the 2026 Appropriation Act, despite questions surrounding its existence and legal status.

According to the preliminary report released on Wednesday, the committee’s findings were based on oral testimonies, documentary evidence, financial records and submissions from several government agencies.

The lawmakers said their investigation found that no valid Act of the National Assembly or presidential order established the PFIPC.

The committee further stated that evidence obtained from the State House showed that the Presidency did not appoint Adeyemi as Director-General of the PFIPC.

It also said it found no evidence that Gbajabiamila signed any appointment letter issued to Adeyemi.

The findings effectively contradict claims linking the Chief of Staff to the establishment of the PFIPC or Adeyemi’s appointment as its Director-General.

The committee is expected to make further findings as it continues its investigation into the activities, funding, accounts and entities allegedly associated with Adeyemi and the purported council.
