As the 2025 Ramadan progresses, two persons have reverted to Islam in the Amolasho Area of Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
The event occurred when one Uthman and Ibrahim bore witness that ‘none is worthy of worship except Allah’ at one of the 6 Ratibi mosques in Amolaso.
The Sahada ceremony was held at Amolasho Muslim Care Centre Mosque with members of the mosque and other high-profile personalities in attendance.
In his welcome address, the Chief Imam of Amolaso, Arc. Tajudeen Ademoye disclosed that after about 31 years of Dawah in Amolasho, it was the first time the community records revertees.
Imam Ademoye posited that it was a great moment in his islamic voyage as Imam for about 31 years in the area, declaring that it was Allah's mercy.
Ademoye prayed that Allah should give the revertees the strength to remain in Islam for the rest of their lives.
He said, “The reason for our convergence today is that we want to show our gratitude to Allah for being Muslim.
"Also, we add more of our members to Islam in the Amolaso Muslim community, and this is because, for 31 years of dawah activities, such has never happened in Amolasho town.
"It is Allah who directed them to join Islam, and we pray that the Almighty Allah give them the strength to continue with the faith of Allah".
Also at the event the Naibu Imam, Alahji Abdulrasak Sanni encouraged them to embrace unity with other Muslim brothers and sisters, while urging them to always exhibit the good teaching of Islam where they are.
In his keynote messages, Ustad Semiu Hamzat, Missionary of the Islamic Youth League encouraged the revertees on further knowledge of Islam to guide them to the right path.
He also noted that no one can be a Muslim except by the mercy of Allah while also affirming that all the prophets of Allah held on to one religion, which is Islam.
Ustaz Hamzat enlightened them that whoever converts to Islam is on the record that the person would be regarded as a newborn baby, maintaining that it is clear that they have no sin in the book record of Allah at the point of revert.
He said "No one can be a Muslim except by the mercy of Allah; it is also confirmed by Allah that all the prophets held on to one religion, which is Islam; therefore, all of them were Muslims.
“Islam is a religion of all prophets. It is also affirmed that whoever accepts Islam has become a newborn baby, and all the sins committed have been cleared."
He also stated that Islam is a comprehensive way of life, urging them to seek knowledge of the religion.
Speaking after the declaration of accepting Islam, both Ibrahim and Uthman disclosed that they accepted Islam out love for the religion without being forced or under any duress.
They both declared they are ready to journey their lives in Islam, while Uthman disclosing that his father initially kicked against the move of joining Islam.
He noted that when his father later saw the commitment he later considered him and pray for him.
The six Ratibi mosques in the community were represented at the event by Alhaji (Imam) Waliyullah Deboye Somuyiwa.
