The Delta State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the killing of retired Justice Ifeoma Okogwu in Anambra State.
The primary suspect in the murder is a 25 year old security giard attached to the deceased, Godwin Mngumi.
According to a statement released on Saturday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, operatives of the Homicide Section, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), acted on credible intelligence to apprehend the primary suspect.
Mngumi was reportedly found in possession of the late justice’s mobile phone and is said to have confessed to inviting two accomplices, identified as Nnaji Obalum and another yet-to-be-identified suspect, into the residence, where the crime was carried out.
SP Bright confirmed that Nnaji Obalum has also been arrested, while efforts are ongoing to track down the third suspect, who remains at large.
The Delta State Police Command assured the public that investigations continue, with a commitment to ensuring all perpetrators are brought to justice.
Justice Okogwu was found dead in her Asaba residence on 24 November 2025 after her remains were discovered by her brother, who visited and found her body in the sitting room with her hands, legs, and mouth bound.
Following that discovery, the Delta State Police Command swiftly evacuated the corpse for autopsy and immediately began an investigation into the incident.
One on-duty security guard, Lucky Matthew was arrested for questioning, while the primary suspect reportedly fled the scene.
