The All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in the August 15, 2026 Osun State election, Bola Oyebamiji, has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election while condemning the alleged post-election violence and attacks on APC members and other residents.

Oyebamiji, who spoke to APC members in Osogbo at the weekend, described the killings, harassment and intimidation following the election as “senseless” and called for an immediate end to the violence.

He urged Adeleke, as the Chief Security Officer of the state, to deploy his constitutional powers to protect the lives and property of residents, particularly during what he described as a sensitive post-election period.

“In the spirit of democracy and as we commemorate the 35th anniversary of the creation of our dear Osun State, I congratulate His Excellency, Senator Ademola Adeleke, the Executive Governor of Osun State, on his victory in the August 15, 2026 governorship election as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission,” Oyebamiji said.

He, however, expressed concern over what he described as attacks on APC members and supporters, as well as innocent members of the public and their businesses.

“The senseless killings, harassment and intimidation of members and supporters of our party must therefore stop forthwith. Attacks on innocent citizens and their businesses must not be allowed to continue,” he said.

Oyebamiji further alleged that some small and medium-sized businesses had been attacked because of the perceived political affiliations or alleged non-allegiance of their owners to the Accord Party, describing such incidents as “condemnable and unacceptable.”

“For a state that aspires to achieve economic growth, attract investment and create sustainable employment opportunities for its people, the provision of security and a conducive environment for businesses to thrive is not negotiable,” he added.

The APC candidate urged party supporters across the state to remain calm and resolute, saying the election had ended but consultations among party leaders and stakeholders were ongoing to determine the party’s next course of action.

He said the APC would continue to pursue justice and fairness through lawful and constitutional means, particularly with regard to the electoral process.

“Dear supporters and party faithful, the 2026 governorship election has come and gone. However, following the official declaration of results by the Independent National Electoral Commission, efforts were set in motion leading to wider consultations with people inclusive of our elders and the critical stakeholders for the next step forward,” he said.

Oyebamiji urged supporters not to lose faith in democracy or the institutions established to protect their democratic rights.

He also called on APC leaders and members to close ranks ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly the party’s campaign for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu.

“As we commence mobilisation and preparations for the re-election of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and other candidates of our party in the general election, I humbly call on you the leaders, members and supporters of our party to rededicate yourselves to the task ahead,” he said.

He added: “We must close ranks, strengthen our structures and work tirelessly to secure incontrovertible victories for Mr. President and all our candidates in Osun State.”
