Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has issued a strong warning to landlords and property owners across the state, declaring that anyone found harbouring criminals or miscreants will face decisive legal consequences.
The governor delivered the warning on Monday during a security briefing at his Iperu residence following a high-level security meeting convened to assess the state’s emerging security concerns.
Abiodun said the government would no longer tolerate individuals who knowingly accommodate criminals, whether in urban centres, border towns, or remote settlements, stressing that such actions directly undermine the peace and safety of the state.
“Landlords and individuals found accommodating miscreants or criminal elements will be decisively dealt with in line with the law,” he said.
“There can be no economic development in any environment where insecurity is allowed to flourish.”
He added that Ogun State, being Nigeria’s industrial capital and the gateway linking the nation’s commercial hub to other regions, must continue to maintain its reputation as one of the country’s most peaceful states.
According to him, “the best time to prepare for threats is during peace.”
