The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 11 suspects and recovered 25 Automated Teller Machine cards, three firearms and two suspected stolen vehicles during a series of operations conducted across the state.

The command said the operations were carried out between September 16 and 26, 2026, as part of its efforts to strengthen security and tackle criminal activities across the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement, saying the arrests and recoveries were achieved through targeted operations by personnel from various police divisions and the Special Weapons and Tactics unit.

Among the major arrests was that of a 45-year-old man, Ameachine Anthony, who was apprehended by operatives of the Igbesa Division over an alleged N2.5m fraud.

Police said 25 ATM cards and several mobile phones were recovered from him.

According to the command, preliminary investigation indicated that the suspect allegedly operated a scheme involving utility bills and newly acquired SIM cards obtained through associates to facilitate the opening of bank accounts.

The ATM cards were allegedly collected subsequently for fraudulent transactions.

The suspect and the recovered exhibits have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.

In a separate operation on September 21, SWAT operatives from Base 7, Abule-Iroko, arrested three suspects after intercepting an unregistered tricycle and a TVS motorcycle around Dalemo, Ota.

The suspects were identified as Olamide Ayandele, 30; Tope Samuel, 40; and Ayo Peter Ojo, 30. Police said preliminary investigation linked them to alleged vehicle theft around the Ijoko axis.

The command also reported the arrest of a suspected cult member, Peter Olanrewaju, 34, following information about an alleged cult gathering.

Further investigation reportedly led to the arrest of another suspect, Adebayo Sodiq, 36, with one pump-action rifle and two locally made pistols recovered.

Meanwhile, detectives attached to the Owode-Egba Division recovered a stolen commercial motorcycle at Mokoloki Village and arrested two suspects, Rasheed Abdul and Saula Meshinoye, in connection with the alleged theft.

Another suspected accomplice, identified as Saheed, remained at large.

In the Olorunda area, two other suspects, Mutiu Gafar, 19, and Fatai Obasanmi, 37, were arrested following the interception of people allegedly conveying stolen electrical materials along Ayetoro Road.

The police said bundles of electrical wires, a change-over electrical box and a circuit breaker box were recovered, while another suspect, identified as Tosin, reportedly escaped.

The command also recovered a Safira vehicle allegedly stolen from its owner and arrested a suspect, Olatunji Olalekan, following investigation and tracking by detectives attached to the Ijebu-Ode Area Crime Office.

Separately, eight vehicles were impounded during a “No Parking” enforcement operation around the Sagamu Interchange Bridge on September 26.

The police said the vehicles were allegedly obstructing the highway and would be processed for prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the officers involved in the operations and urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information to the police.

The command reaffirmed its commitment to proactive policing and urged members of the public to report security concerns through its designated emergency channels.
