The Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has extended heartfelt congratulations to Muyiwa Adejobi on his recent elevation to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
The Union described the promotion as well-deserved and a reflection of years of outstanding public service.
In a statement signed by the council's Chairman, Comrade Wale Olanrewaju, and Secretary, Comrade Bunmi Adigun, the union hailed Adejobi's commitment to professionalism, effective policing, and media engagement throughout his career.
DCP Adejobi, who previously served as the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Ogun State and currently holds the same position at the national level, was praised for his exceptional communication skills, respect for press freedom, and transparent approach to law enforcement.
“His promotion is not only a personal milestone but also a source of pride for the people of Ogun State and the entire media community.”
“Adejobi's steady rise in the Nigeria Police Force reflects merit, integrity, and years of dedicated service,” the statement read.
The NUJ described him as a "friend of the press" and commended his consistent support for journalistic ethics, mutual cooperation with media professionals, and his efforts in fostering peace and security across the country.
“Today, we celebrate a public officer who has shown that professionalism, humility, and loyalty can co-exist in public service. We encourage DCP Adejobi to remain a role model for younger officers and continue upholding the values that have defined his career,” the council stated.
The Union expressed confidence that Adejobi’s new role would further strengthen the relationship between the police and the press, an alliance deemed essential for building a more secure and informed society.
The council concluded by reaffirming its commitment to working with security agencies in the shared goal of promoting truth, accountability, and national peace.
