The wife of the Ogun State Governor and Founder of the Ajose Foundation, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, has awarded scholarships to 50 indigent students across the State in partnership with Dufil Prima Foods Plc.
The presentation, which was held at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, was aimed at easing the financial burden on parents while motivating students to pursue their education with renewed zeal.
Mrs. Abiodun explained that the initiative was targeted at parents who genuinely value education and need support to keep their children in school.
“This gesture is for parents who sincerely want their wards educated. We believe they need encouragement, and that is why we are bringing this scholarship. We expect the parents to monitor the children closely, while the beneficiaries must continue to keep the flag flying,” she said.
The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, commended the beneficiaries for their efforts, urging them to strive for excellence.
He also charged parents to remain actively involved in both the academic and moral development of their wards.
Similarly, the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Evangelist Olalekan Ifede, described education as a powerful tool for personal and national development.
He applauded the consistent support of Mrs. Abiodun and Dufil Prima Foods, particularly their sponsorship of scholarship schemes for indigent students.
In the same vein, the Chairman of the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Apostle ’Biodun Sanyaolu, lauded the partnership, describing it as a worthy investment in the future of the State.
He also encouraged teachers to intensify efforts in nurturing students towards achieving greatness.
Speaking on behalf of Dufil Prima Foods Plc, Temitope Asiwaju noted that the scholarships formed part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
He revealed that beyond financial aid, the organisation also plans to equip science laboratories in secondary schools across Ogun State to strengthen science education.
Two of the beneficiaries, David Elijah of Ijebu-Mushin College and Ifaseke Odutola of Illisan High School, expressed gratitude to the First Lady and Dufil Prima Foods Plc, pledging to remain focused on their studies and to become worthy ambassadors of Ogun State.
