Ogun State House of Assembly, Friday, condemned the alleged invasion of the House by its former Deputy Speaker, Hon Dare Kadiri.

The Assembly alleged that the former Deputy Speaker desecrated the Assembly by invading it, allegedly with thugs on Friday Morning.

According to a statement signed by the Deputy Clerk, Funmi Adeyemi, Kadiri made his way into the office of the clerk, claiming to want to enforce a judgement.

Upon request for the copy of the said judgement, Kadiri, was alleged to have moved his people to his former office as the Deputy Speaker which is currently occupied by the sitting the Deputy Speaker, Akeem Balogun.

“The suspended former Deputy Speaker desecrated the legislature by invading the Assembly complex around 11am this morning with a bus filled with thugs and made his way into the office of the Clerk of the Assembly, Deji Adeyemo and that of the Deputy Speaker,  Akeem Balogun.

“The Deputy Clerk, Mrs. Funmi Adeyemi, while addressing Kadiri's  counsel enjoined him to guide his client on the need to follow due process by serving the Assembly the certified true copy of the said judgement.

“Kadiri, who was suspended in 2022 for breaching the right and privilege of the Assembly, told the Clerk he was in the Assembly to enforce a judgement.

“Upon request for the said judgement, Kadiri, who had not purged himself of the same reason for which he was suspended, made his way to the Office of Deputy Speaker to occupy the office. Whereas, Kadiri was only in court to contest his suspension as a member of Ogun State House of Assembly and not as a Deputy Speaker of the Assembly.

“It took the intervention of some security agencies who led him and his thugs out of the Assembly premises after he had earlier shunned all entreaties from the Deputy Clerk of the House,” the statement read in part.

The former Deputy Speaker, early Friday morning, got a judgement in his favour from a Federal High Court Sitting in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital which quashed his suspension by the house as unconstitutional.

The Assembly said it was not aware of the said judgement, adding that Kadiri should have known the process of enforcing a judgement, as a lawmaker.

“For the records, Ogun Assembly is not aware of the judgement and the same Kadiri has not presented the Certified True Copy of same to the Assembly. This is a procedure that a supposed lawmaker should not be taught.”

While responding, the lawmaker said he was at the Assembly to access his special medication prescribed by his London Doctor, adding that he has lost access to the medication for seven months.

According to him, those who came with him to the Assembly were members of his constituency who, according to him, were there to give him support.

“My lawyer has said it all, we had a judgement and I came. Really, I am hypertensive and I have my drugs in my office but I have not been having access to it for the past seven months, I have to start buying anyone from Nigeria while that was a special prescription from my Doctor in London.

“During the process of going into my office, I couldn’t get my key and I asked them to go and look for my key for me, during that process, I saw the Deputy Clerk and some other staff coming to embarrass me and my constituents who came to give me support, because we were coming from the court and the office is their office, they have the right to go into my office and that is just it,” Kadiri said.
