'Odun Aje Onire Egba' to empower Egba youths, women

The Odun Aje Onire Egba, 2025 is set to support indigent women and youths in the area of empowerment programmes, business grants, skill acquisition and mentorship opportunities.

Slated for Monday at the popular Oba Odeleye Park, Sokori in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, the second edition of the festival is targeted at celebrating the icons of wealth and prosperity in Egbaland.

The convener, Princess Kehinde Adetutu Adelanwa-Sobayo, in a press statement heralding the celebration explained that cash gifts for petty traders, sewing machines, grinding machines, scholarship would be up for grab by lucky winners.

According to Princess Adelanwa-Sobayo who is also the Iyalaje Onir of Egbaland and Erelu Àj of Owu Kingdom, the celebration showcases the rich cultural heritage and traditions of the Egba people.

She assured that the celebration promises to be an unforgettable experience with diversed activities including cultural performances, traditional rites and ceremonies, and other activities to promote the unity and peace of Egbaland.

"This prestigious event showcases the rich cultural heritage and traditions of the Egda people.

"The Odun Aje Onir Egba festival is a significant celebration of Egba culture, promoting unity, peace, and progress among the people. All are invited to join in celebrating this iconic representation of wealth and prosperity in Egbaland.

"Convened by, Princess Kehinde Adetutu Adelanwa-Sobayo (Iyalaje Onir of Egbaland and Erelu Àj of Owu Kingdom), this year's celebration promises to be an unforgettable experience. The event features a diverse range of activities.

"The event will also feature live indigenous music by the renowned Abideen Olatunji Yusuf, son of the legendary Baba-Lgba."

She further revealed that the event would be attended by the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, leading other Egba kings and chiefs; former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and representative of Ogun State government and the Honorable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism.
