The Management of Federal Medical Center, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital has countered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC over an alleged arrest of a member of the staff of the Center for involvement in the internet fraud.
According to a statement by the Segun Orisajo, the Head, Public Relations & Information of the Center, Olawale Balogun who was quoted to be a staff of FMC ad seize to be a staff since 2021 after two years of engagement.
Operatives of Ibadan Zonal command of Commission, had named Olawale Balogun, one of the 48 alleged internet fraudsters arrested last week in Ogun and Oyo State as a staff of the Center.
In 2021, according to the spokesperson, Balogun applied for a study leave without pay and proceeded without approval, adding that his name had been deleted from the payroll since 2021.
“The Management of Federal Medical Centre Idi-Aba Abeokuta has refuted the news making the rounds that one of its staff was involved in internet fraud.
“The hospital Management maintained that the man in question, Olawale Balogun Nurudeen absconded in 2021 about two years after employment and had since deleted his name from the hospital payroll.
“To set the records straight, the Hospital Management wishes to state as follows:
"Olawale Balogun Nurudeen joined the Centre as a Clerical Officer II on 2nd November 2018 and had his appointment confirmed on 2nd November, 2020.
"In 2021, he applied for a study leave without pay and proceeded without approval.
"Following fruitless efforts to trace his whereabouts, the Management in July 2021 deleted his name from the payroll and had since neither reported for work nor reacted to the Management's action.
"The general public is hereby by this publication notified that Olawale Balogun allegedly arrested by the EFCC is not a staff of FMC Abeokuta and that no member of the Centre was involved in any internet fraud or related crimes.
"The staff of the Centre are dutiful and law abiding who are familiar with the consequences of any infraction to the Public Service Rules.”
