The New Nigeria People's Party, NNPP, has expelled its Ogun and Delta States Chairmen, Comrade Sunday Oginni Olaposi and Dr. Efe Tobor, for alleged anti-party activities.
The Party also announced the dissolution of the State Executive Committee and all excos in both local government and ward in the two states.
The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Dr. Agwo Major, who announced the expulsion via a release in Abuja, said it followed a meeting of the NNPP National Working Committee.
Dr. Major said Oginni's expulsion alongside his Delta state counterpart, Dr. Efe Tobor centered on anti-party activities, describing the development as disheartening.
According to him, Oginni was among members of the party who openly aligned with other parties in the last election.
"You will agree with me that no party worth its salt will condone such a misdemeanor. Unfortunately, some States Chairmen and their Executives, apart from very loud anti-Party activities were accused of a plethora of wrongdoings which negated their oath of office.
“This prompted the National Working Committee (NWC) to set up a Disciplinary Committee to investigate three States, Edo, Delta, and Ogun".
Dr. Mayor added that while the Edo State Chairman appeared before the Disciplinary Committee "the Delta State Chairman, Chief Efe Tobor and his Ogun State counterpart, Comrade Sunday Olaposi Ogini failed to appear on the two occasions they were invited.
"Consequently, the NWC met on Thursday, April 27, 2023, and came up with the following decisions:
"That both the Chairman NNPP in Delta State, Chief Efe Tobor and his Ogun State counterpart, Comrade Olaposi Sunday Ogini have been expelled from the party, with effect from Thursday, April 27, 2023".
He added the Executives from the State, down to the Local Government and Ward levels in Delta and Ogun States have equally been dissolved effective Thursday, April 27, 2023.
According to him, "The expulsion of both Chief Efe Tobor and Comrade Sunday Olaposi Ogini will be taken to the National Executive Committee (NEC) and the National Convention for ratification.
“Further development on these two States and others will be made public."
Both Oginni and the national leadership pf the Party have been at loggerheads over the affairs of the party in Ogun State especially on the petition against the victory of Governor Dapo Abiodun from the March 18 governorship election.
The Party had filled a petition before the Ogun State Election Petition Tribunal, over allegation of omitting its name and party logo from the ballot papers for the election.
Early this week, Oginni, who deposed to the affidavit in support of the petition announced the intention of the Party to withdraw same from the tribunal.
The decision was immediately countered by the National Leadership of the party which insisted that Oginni has no authorization to withdraw the petition.
