Labour Party, LP has won the Edo South Senatorial seat, as Senator Urhoghide's former aide, Neda Imasuen defeated the candidates of the PDP and APC in last Saturday's election.
With the result, the Labour Party candidate defeated Edo State governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, in his ward, Local government and Senatorial district.
Obaseki who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had vowed to deliver the State for the PDP.
However, the PDP and the All Progressives Congress (APC) lost the election by a wide margin to the Labour Party candidate.
According to the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, returning officer, Prof. A. Obasuyi, Mr. Neda Imasuen of LP emerged winner with 167, 250 votes.
He defeated the candidates of APC and PDP, who both scored 57, 933 and 61, 749 respectively.
The LP party candidate, Mr. Iyawe Eseosa, also won Oredo federal constituency seat.
The victory indicated that Eseosa will represent governor Obaseki at the House of Representatives.
