Given his background as a staunch Muslim and accomplishment both in academics and business world, the management of Ar-Rayyan Mosque, Abeokuta, has described the emergence of Dr Saka Adetola Matemilola as the new Olowu of Owu kingdom in Abeokuta, as one that will herald significant developments in the kingdom.
The Board of Trustees of the Mosque, in a congratulatory message to the new Olowu signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Board, Dr Tajudeen Adebayo and Alhaji Abdur Rahman Maku respectively, described the emergence of Matemilola as a milestone achievement.
The 14th Olowu is the Founder of the Mosque with the Da’wah Front of Nigeria, DFN, as the Custodian. Maku is one of the representatives of the DFN in the Board.
According to the Board, the new Olowu’s intelligence, comportment and wide international connection will be great assets to the Owu throne.
The statement reads, “The Board of Trustees, management and the entire congregants of Ar-Rayyan Masjid, Abeokuta felicitate the Founder of the Masjid, Dr. Saka Adelola Matemilola on his selection as the 14th Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Abeokuta.
“This is indeed a milestone achievement in the life of Dr. Matemilola who Almighty Allah has chosen to preside over the affairs of the good people of Owu Kingdom which is a major and important sub-tribe in Yorubaland with rich cultural heritage and remarkable achievements in all spheres of human endeavours.
“Without equivocation, the emergence of Dr. Matemilola as the new Olowu will herald significant developments for the indigenes of Owu Kingdom at home and abroad, the Egbas and Ogun State in general given his background as a staunch Muslim and his accomplishments in academics and business world.
“Dr. Matemilola's intelligence, comportment and wide international connection will be great assets to the Owu throne.
‘We join Owu sons and daughters all over the world to celebrate their new king and we pray God to grant the monarch the wisdom, guidance, sound health, long life and abundant resources to carry out his royal duties effectively.”
