An Ogun State ministerial nominee, Dr Bosun Tijani, has apologised for his anti-Nigeria and anti-Senate tweets which were brought before him during the ongoing screening exercise on Saturday.

According to Tijani, an IT expert, his father won’t be happy with him with the allegations with which he was confronted with.

Tijani said he was brought up both in Abeokuta and Agege not to disrespect elders, as he was alleged to have referred to the Senate as ‘moron’ in one of the tweets brought before him.

Senator Fatai Buhari of Oyo North had led the debate against Tijani's tweets when he asked him if he still believes in the anti-Nigeria tweets.

This was followed by another tweet presented before the Senate, by the Minority Leaders, Senator Simon Davou, where the nominee allegedly referred to Nigeria senators as 'morons'.

Senator Olamilekan Adeola pleaded on the Senate to consider the allegations against Tijani as part of youthful exuberance and out of frustration.

Effort by Senator Adeola to apologise on behalf of the nominee was protested by other Senators.

The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, saved the day when he asked the nominee to apologise for the tweets, adding that another derogatory tweet might be brought against Tijani, should he spent another five minutes before the Senate.

Searching through Tijani's handle on Twitter, a lot of unpatriotic tweets had been deleted.

His nomination has been greeted with a lot of criticisms, especially bvy the younger generation.
