The newly appointed Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Architect (Dr) ‘Koyejo Jolaoso has described his decision to join the race for the position as a collective aspiration of all stakeholders of the Institution.
Dr Jolaoso said this during his official resumption at his office in Ojeere, Abeokuta, on Friday.
The Rector was received by the management team of the Polytechnic led by the Deputy Rector and Registrar, Dr Yetunde Lanre-Iyanda and Mrs Elewodalu Olubukola respectively, and also the Chairman, Ogun State Polytechnic Rectors Forum and the Rector of D.S Adegbenro ICT polytechnic, Dr Goke Rauf.
He was ushered in with a special prayer led by the Chief Imam Za’adatul Abadiyyah Organisation of Nigeria, Sheikh Ismail Abdul-Lateef.
Friends, well-wishers, colleagues, staffers of the polytechnic and especially members of the ‘No Dull Moment in Islam’ group, thronged the office of the Rector to welcome him to office.
While promising to operate an open door policy, the new Rector explained that his aspiration was a collective wisdom through consultation, shared ideas and participatory approach.
He further reiterated that the approach has been a reflection of his leadership trajectory, promising to continue with the same trajectory in his new role.
The Rector, Arc. Dr. Jolaoso, who is the first Alumnus to become the Rector of MAPOLY, also promised inclusiveness.
He said, "The emergence to become a Rector was a collective decision and aspiration of everyone, thereby, seeing myself as your representative."
He stated further that all hands must be on deck to nurture the affairs of the Polytechnic to an enviable status.
Jolaoso urged all and sundry to join hands in sailing the ship of the 45-year old Institution to the dreamland.
In her brief remarks, the Deputy Rector expressed satisfaction with the manner the Rector resumed office, adding that it has always been a private affair whenever any Rector is resuming office.
Dr Lanre-Iyanda said the decision of the new Rector to call the principal officers to be part of his resumption was a sign of ‘a brand new MAPOLY’.
She said, “I saw signs of a brand new MAPOLY, that he called us to be present with him, it shows he's ready to work with us for the betterment of the polytechnic.
“We just had a council meeting and I didn't want to talk until compelled by the council Chairman. There were lots of troubles when I become the Deputy Rector and Baba told me he wants peace and I am giving you my word, this will not be like before.
“We have promised to work together for the betterment of the polytechnic. I knew when the polytechnic was better and I wouldn't want the name to go into disrepute.”
Speaking about the Rector, the Deputy said, “He's my brother, I have known him for quote some times and I am glad he finally got this position, God will strengthen and lead him, you will not be ill, you will not be sick.
“Divine wisdom, wisdom per second per second. We are very ready and eager to assist. We want the progress of the polytechnic, you can be sure you have our backing. From the depth of our heart we wish you all the blessings,” she prayed.
