Damilola Adeparusi popularly called Chef Dammy, has finally spoken out about her just-concluded 120-hour cook-a-thon, saying it was not for Guiness World Records or to challenge the record holder, Hilda Baci.

Dammy, a student at the Federal University of Oye-Ekiti, told BBC News Yoruba that she did not participate in the cook-a-thon because she wants to be a Guinness World Records holder for the longest hours spent cooking by an individual or compete with Hilda Baci, who cooked on a stretch for 100 hours.

She went on to say that she participated in the cook-a-thon because she enjoys cooking and wants others to see a young girl cook.

Speaking in the interview, she said, “On the Guinness Book of Record or competing with Hilda Baci, what makes me happy and I enjoy when I do it is cooking, Guiness World Record was not my intention, I didn’t do it for Guiness World Record, I only did it for people that will wants to watch a little girl cooking, and for me, who loves cooking, to enjoy it, that’s all.

“I enjoy it, standing in the kitchen and cooking all sort of foods for 120 ours. My intention was just to bring my people together and cook for 120 hours, enjoy ourselves and go back to the normal life. I can’t explain it, people would be amazed just like you’ve amazed. But I feel very good about it, people love me for it and they are ready to back me up.”

Chef Dammy began her 120-hour cooking marathon in Oye Local Government Area in Ekiti State on Friday, June 9, and completed the 120-hour on Wednesday morning.

According to her, she got a “help from a lot of places, especially from the Spirit of Global Mission.”

There have been reports that Dammy did not apply to the Guiness World Records before her coo-a-thon.

She came under intense attacks from fans of Baci for not waiting for the confirmation of Baci’s effort before attempting to challenge same.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Abayomi Fashina Sunday, Tuesday, visited Damilola, during the cooking process.
