A Non-Governmental Organisation, Maktab for Da'wah and Charity, Nigeria, has inaugurated a new mosque, Abdul Qadr Bn Solih Mosque, located at Oke-Ata area, in Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital.

The mosque which was facilitated by the Proprietor, Al-Madrasatul Ibn Qayyim, Abdul Wasii Faaasaasi, according to the President of the group, Dr Habibullah Yusuff Adewuyi, was the 30th in the country.

He further revealed that over 200 boreholes and wells have been constructed in different parts of the Country within a short time.

The President, in his inauguration lecture, commended the efforts which saw the mosque completed, appealing to the Muslim community to make a judicious use of the property for a premium reward from Allah.

Dr Adewuyi explained that the best way to seek Allah's reward is to build the house of Allah where He will be remembered from time to time, he called on the Muslims within the community to complement the effort by taking custody of the mosque.

He said, "You haven't done any good except you spend from that which you loved. Mosque is for Allah. Mosque is not to be inherited, in fact, the owner of the land upon which the mosque is built, must have resolved that the land had been donated to Allah and no family can inherit it again.

"One of the fastest ways of earning Allah's rewards on earth is to build the house of Allah, I don't know any better way to earn rewards than building the House of Allah because acts of worships will be going there from time to time."

Talking on the importance of building mosques, the Islamic scholar recalled how the focus of the prophet (SAW) during hijrah was building mosques when he stayed in Qubah and also when he reached Madeenah.

He also reminded that mosque is a symbol of unity and meeting point on Muslims, recalling how the first successor of the Prophet, Abubakar, had to address the Muslim community in the the mosque.

He said, "When the prophet was on hijrah, his first focus when he reached Qubah was a mosque, and when he reached Madeenah, the first structure was a mosque and that should be the target of any Muslim in any environment.

"Apart from praying in the mosque, it serves several other purposes as a point of unity and a point of reconciliation. Immediately Abubakr became the khaleefah (successor), the first point of call to address the people was in the mosque.

"Now that this structure has been put in place, it is left for us to complement the effort of the builder by taking care of the mosque and providing other needs of the mosque.

"All of us must have impact on the mosque by spending our resourceson maintaining the mosque."

Earlier, the Proprietor of Darul Qur'an, Ikorodu and a PhD researcher at Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Kwara State, Dr Habibullah Jumah, appealed to the community to make judicious use of the mosque adding that it is the only way to complement the effort of the builder and earn him more reward.

He maintained that the mosque remains a unifying factor for Muslims and a place where all societal evils are expected to be corrected.

He said, "This is the best place on earth, it is a place where all evils are expected to be addressed and corrected. We must make use of the mosque judiciously and all of us must be ready to take part in building mosques because that was the first assignment undertaken by the Prophet when he got to madeenah.

"The reward for building a mosque, according to the Prophet, is that Allah will build a house from such a person in paradise. But the reward will be more for both the builder and the community when we make judicious use of the Mosque."

The Facilitator, who is also the Chief Imam of Shuaib Central Mosque in Oke-Ata revealed that the mosque will be the fifth to be inaugurated in Abeokuta with several boreholes and wells in different communities.
