President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reportedly suspended the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, AbdulRasheed Bawa, from office.

The news of Bawa's suspension was published by the government owned Nigeria Television Authority, NTA, on its verified Twitter handle.

According to the statement, the suspension is to allow for investigation of weighty allegations against him.

Bawa was recently accussed of corruption by the immediate past governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle.

This is coming barely a week after the Governor of Central Bank, Godswin Emefiele, was also suspended in the same manner.
