President Bola Tinubu has appointed former Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Nuhu Ribadu, as a Special Adviser on Security.

Also appointed is a former Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Lagos between 199 and 2007 when Tinubu served as the State Governor, Dele Alake.

Alake was appointed as Special Adviser, Special Duties, Communications and Strategy.

Wale Edun, a former Finance Commissioner in Lagos when Tinubu held sway in the State, has also been appointed as the Special Adviser, Monetary Policies.

According to a statement by Abiodun Oladunjoye, the State House Director of Information, Yau Darazo, a former aide to the immediate past President Muhammadu Buhari on Special Duties, has also been appointed as Special Adviser, Political and Intergovernmental Affairs;

Olu Verheijen was appointed Special Adviser, energy; John Ugochukwu Uwajumogu is to serve as the Special Adviser, Industry, Trade and Investment; while Salma Ibrahim Anas, a Director at the Federal Ministry of Health and a former Health Commissioner in Borno State, was appointed as the Special Adviser Health.

Dele Alake is a journalist, activist, technocrat amd a politician who hails from Ekiti State where he was born in October, 1956.

 

The former Commissioner is a graduate of University of Lagos, Akoka where he bagged bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a master’s degree in Mass Communications

In 1985, Alake delved into the print journalism when he joined the defunct Concord Press publishers of the Concord Group of Newspapers – National Concord and Sunday Concord as an editor and writer.

He also served as the columnist of the National Concord.

In 1989, he was appointed editor of Sunday Concord, a capacity he occupied till 1995. 

His mentor, Chief MKO Abiola appointed him his Adviser on Information to catalyse his election campaign in preparation for the 1993 general election.

He was the Director of Media and Communication of The Tinubu Campaign Council supporting the presidential aspiration of President Tinubu in the 2023 election.

Chief Adebayo Olawale Edun is a Nigerian economist who has made a significant mark in the financial sector both nationally and internationally.

Edun holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of London and a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of Sussex, England.

He had served as Head of Treasury and Deputy Head of Corporate Finance at Chase Merchant Bank from 1980 to 1986 where he oversaw Capital Market and Financial Advisory operations for multinational conglomerates and their subsidiaries, as he was in charge of the bank’s Treasury and Money Market activities.

He was at Lehman Brothers and Chase Manhattan Capital Markets Corporation on Wall Street in New York, USA, while at Chase.

Edun co-founded and served as Executive Director of Investment Banking & Trust Company Limited, now Stanbic IBTC Plc, in 1989. He established Denham Management Limited in 1994.

In addition to serving on the boards of several other businesses, Wale is the Chair of Chapel Hill Denham Group, a prominent investment bank in Lagos that has received significant recognitions and awards, including Africa’s Best Bank for Advisory in the Euromoney Awards 2016 – 2019.

Olu Verheijen is an Advisor for the Energy for Growth Hub with nearly 20 years’ experience in the gas and renewables sectors across Sub-Saharan Africa.

She is currently the Managing Director at Latimer Energy, a consulting firm advising clients on value optimization in acquisition, development and management of energy assets.

Dr Salma Ibrahim Anas, is a Director, Family Health Services at the Federal Ministry of Hralth where she leads key Divisions including Reproductive Health, Child Health and Gender, Adolescent, School Health and Elderly Care (GASHE), Nutrition and Health Promotion Divisions.

Prior to that she had been the Director/Head Special Projects & National Coordinator Health Sector Humanitarian Crisis Response of the Federal Ministry of Health.

She also served as Commissioner of Health in Borno State under the current Vice President, Kassim Shettima between 2011 and 2015.

Dr Salma was the Assistant Country Representative/Head Reproductive Health/HIV, United Nations Funds for Population Activities (UNFPA), Nigeria; the National Team Leader for the DFID-funded MNCH2 project and the Deputy Country Director, Strengthening Nigeria’s Response on HIV/AIDS (SNR)/DFID, Family Health International (FHI).

Mrs Anas was a senatorial aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Borno South, where she battled the ticket with Senator Ali Ndume.

Zaccheous Adelabu, a former Commissioner for Finance in the administration of late Sen. Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State was appointed by President Buhari as the Executive Secretary, National Sugar Development Council, NSDC.

Before his appointment into the Council, Adelabu had served as Corporate Affairs Manager (West Africa) at the Procter & Gamble Company, Lagos.
