The House of Representatives has said that the Federal Medical Center, Abeokuta, has witnessed a remarkable improvement in the last few years.

The House Committee on Health, which was at the Center on oversight function on Wednesday specifically identified the improvement within the centre within the last two years.

The Chairman of the Committee, Dr Amos Magaji, gave the Medical Director of the Center, Prof. Adewale Musa-Olomu a pat at the back for his innovative leadership and prudent management of resources.

The Chairman expressed delight and satisfaction with the result-oriented leadership of Prof. Musa-Olomu.

"I happened to be here two years ago on oversight and what we are seeing here today is so amazing.

"There has been a lot of remarkable improvement in FMC, Abeokuta and we are proud and happy with the Medical Director and his management team and all staff of this Centre."

Dr. Magaji observed that in the midst of a lot of constraints, "they have been able to do so much with the resources they have.

"These are the Institutions that when they are asking for resources, government is pleased to release to them because you can see what they are doing with such resources."

Dr. Amos said he had "promised and assured the Medical Director that by the grace of God, some of the projects in the Centre that had not been completed will receive the support of my Committee, because I'm going to see how we can rally support to get funds for those projects for their completion."

The Medical Director had earlier solicited the intervention of the Committee in the completion of the Maternity Building Complex, Radiotherapy building project, and purchase of an MRI machine among others.

Prof Musa-Olomu also solicited the assistance of the Committee in tackling the manpower challenge and the transformation of the Centre into a Teaching Hospital.
