Former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has described late Adewunmi Onanuga as a vibrant lawmaker and a committed grassroots politician.
Popularly called 'Ijaya', the House of Representatives Deputy Majority Whip, died on Wednesday at the age of 59, after brief illness.
Senator Amosun, in a statement signed by Lanre Akinwale, said he received the passage of the lawmaker who, until her death, represented Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency, with great shock and sadness.
Senator Amosun described the death of Onanuga as a loss of an illustrious indigene of Remoland and Ogun State, who made impactful contributions to the development of Remoland and Ogun State.
“It saddens my heart that Ijaya, as she was fondly called, would succumb to death at a time when her expertise, experience, and service are still needed at her constituency, Ogun State and the National Assembly.
"A two-term lawmaker, and deputy chief whip of the 10th House of Representatives, Ijaya demonstrated passion and performance in her legislative functions.
While commiserating with the entire Onanuga family, the people of Remoland and Ogun State, the APC family, and her colleagues at the House of Representatives, Amosun enjoins them to take solace in the fact that Hon. Adewunmi Onanuga lived an eventful life and left behind enduring legacies.
The former Governor prays that Almighty Allah (SWT) will grant her Aljannah Firdaous and give everyone the fortitude to bear her irreparable loss.
