Following the declaration by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, the Nigeria Immigration Service has placed the embattled former governor of Kogi State, Yahya Bello, on watch list.
EFCC had declared the former Governor wanted after he was prevented from being arrested by the Commission on Wednesday by his successor, Governor Usman Ododo of the State.
In a letter directed to the Director-General, Department of State Services; The Inspector General of Police; the Director General, National Intelligence Agency, amongst other. Yahaya Bello is to be arrested at any exit or entry point.
The letter was signed by the Assistant Comptroller of Immigration, Suspect Index, DS Usman and dated 18th April, 2024.
“I am directed to inform you that the above named person has been placed on the watch list.
“Suffice to mention that the subject is being prosecuted before the Federal High Court, Abuja for conspiracy, breach of trust and money laundering vide letter Ref; CR; 3000/EFCC/LS/EGS.1/TE/V/1/279 dated 18th April, 2024.
“Is seen at any entry or exit point, he should be arrested and referred to the Director of Investigation or contact 08036226329/07039617304 for further action.
“Please accept as always the Comptroller-General warmest regards and esteem.”
The former Governor is being tried on allegation of money laundering to the tune of over N82b.
