Almost a week after he was granted N300m bail in a N1.2b procurement fraud allegation, the embattled former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele is yet to meet up with the bail condition.
Justice Hamza Muazu of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja, had granted Emefiele bail in the tune of N300m with two sureties in the like sun over allegation of procurement fraud brought against him by the Federal Government.
According to the judge, the sureties must have certificates of occupancy and titles of properties within the Maitama District of Abuja.
He also ordered Emefiele to deposit all his travel documents with the registrar of the court, adding that he must remain within the Abuja Municipal Area Council.
The case was adjourned till Tuesday, for the commencement of the trial
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Emefiele was brought to court and taken away by armed personnel of the Nigerian Correctional Service, an indication that he was yet to meet up with the conditions.
The Court has however adjourned the case till January 18, 2024, for the continuation of the trial.
