The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has released the former Speaker of House of Representatives, Patricia Olubunmi Etteh who was detained by the Commission.
The anti-graft agency in a very short message on its twitter handle, @officialEFCC revealed that the former Speaker was released since Friday after fulfilling bail conditions offered her by the investigators working on her matter.
The release read, “Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mrs Patricia Olubunmi Etteh, detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on suspicious and shady financial involvement with Phil Jin Projects Limited, has been released by the Commission.
“She was released on Friday, May 20, 2022 upon fulfilling bail conditions offered her by investigators working on her matter. She is to report periodically to assist further investigation.”
The only female Speaker Nigeria has ever produced was arrested four days ago over allegation of fraud involving a Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) contract.
Etteh was elected Speaker in 2007 but resigned only after a few months amid allegations of financial misappropriation.
