The Senate, Wednesday, confirmed the nomination of Ola Olukoyede and Muhammad Hassan Hammajoda for appointment as chairman and secretary respectively of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The resolution of the red chamber followed its screening of the nominees in a Committee of the Whole.
President Ahmed Bola Tinubu had on Tuesday in a letter requested the Senate to consider approving the nominees for appointment.
The nominees were confirmed after they were screened in the “committee of the whole”.
The nominees fielded a number of questions from the senators in their respective fields and especially on the purpose of their nomination.
There had been criticisms against the appointment of Olukoyede, a lawyer, whom some analysts and senior lawyers, said was not an Assistant Commissioner of Police and does not fit to lead the nation’s number one anti-graft agency.
They also querry his work experience and how it matches into the 15 years cognate experience as required by the EFCC Act.
