Declaring Idris the winner of the keenly contested poll, the Returning Officer said: “I, Professor Yusuf Saidu, hereby certify that I am the Returning Officer for the 2023 Kebbi State Governorship Election held on the 15th day of April, 2023.
“That Idris Nasiru of APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby the winner and is returned elected.”
In his acceptance speech, the Governor-elect, Idris, promised to run an all-inclusive government promising to build on the existing achievements of Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.
He further said, “Let me use this opportunity to thank our teeming supporters who turned out en masse to vote APC into the office to continue enjoying the dividends of democracy.
“To those who we contested with from other parties, you should know we have no other state than Kebbi. You should therefore join hands with us to move the state forward,” he said.
INEC had earlier declared the election of March 18 inconclusive owing to cancellations in polling units across 20 out of the 21 local government areas of the State and the margin of victory.
