Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Alumni association has donated a 2000 seater lecture theatre worth N250m to the Institution.
The building was inaugurated on Tuesday by the governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, during the 13th, 14th and 15th convocation ceremony of the institution held at the University campus.
Speaking at the event, the Alumni President, Abdullahi Abiodun Oyekanmi, expressed gratitude to the governor of Ogun State, for his unflinching supports for the University since the inception of his administration.
Oyekanmi revealed that the giant strides of the Alumni association began immediately it was established in 2010 when the pioneer administration led by Tajudeen Olusegun Uthman provided hospital materials to the University clinic.
Uthman's administration, according to the president, also donated a modern bakery to assist the internally generated revenue (IGR) of the University.
He revealed that the administration of Saheed Olaiya Buraimoh began the construction of the Alumni building while it was completed during his own administration.
"All these not leaving out time to time interventions in the university in various areas of needs," he said.
He attributed the successes of successive administrations of the TASUED Alumni to prudent management of meagre resources available to the association.
The President called on well-wishers to support the Alumni association in its strides towards improved development in the university.
He also appreciated the Commissioner for Education in the State, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu; the University management for their support to the Association and most significantly, members of the executive council for their unwavering dedication and cooperation that led to the completion of the project.
Speaking during the commissioning, Governor Abiodun expressed delight and satisfaction with the members of the Alumni association for the monumental contribution to their Alma Mata.
The governor extolled the virtues, dedication and commitment of the association as a critical stakeholder in the university towards giving back to their university despite the relatively young ages of the association and the university.
He however called on other Universities Alumni associations to emulate TASUED Alumni, saying such gestures would ameliorate infrastructural deficit as witnessed by the university system as well complement the efforts of the government.
The Governor promised continuous support for the TASUED Alumni in the development of the University.
Other dignitaries at the commissioning include the Secretary to the Government of Ogun State, Tokunbo Talabi; the Chairman of Council of TASUED, Prof. Rahman Bello; the Vice Chancellor of TASUED, Prof. Oluwole Banjo and a host of other dignitaries.
Earlier, Governor Abiodun had announced the gift of two million naira to each of the overall best graduating student from each of the session. Also, cash donations were giving by the governor to their best graduating students from each of the college of the university and also automatic employment for the first class graduates.
