The Osun State Chapter of the Accord Party has raised concerns over alleged developments ahead of the August 15 governorship election, particularly the unofficial presence of the Ebonyi State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mrs Onyeka Pauline Ugochi, in the State.

The Party also raised the alarm concerning the deployment of uncustomised ballot papers and result sheets for the election.

The party alleged that Mrs Ugochi, an Information and Communications Technology (ICT) expert, is currently in Osogbo despite not being listed among the Resident Electoral Commissioners deployed to supervise the Osun governorship election.

In a statement signed by the State Chairman of the Party, Pastor Victor Babalola Akande, Ugochi, who is alleged to be a close confidant of Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, is currently lodged at Tees Continental Hotel on Laro Timileyin Street, Ayekale, Osogbo.

The party further alleged that she was brought into the state in connection with an alleged plot to manipulate the election.

The Party also claimed that  allege hackers have been brought from Lagos and Abuja to work with the INEC REC.

Accord, however, called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to clarify the circumstances surrounding her presence and activities in Osun.

The party said an INEC letter dated August 3, 2026, addressed to RECs from 15 contributing states, identified the officials and states providing supervisory contingents for the Osun election, noting that Ebonyi State was not included on the list.

It therefore questioned who authorised Ugochi's presence in Osun and what official responsibility she is undertaking in the state.

Accord urged the National Chairman of INEC to immediately investigate the matter and explain why a serving REC would leave her state of posting to operate in another geopolitical zone without being listed among the officials deployed for the election.

The party also demanded the immediate withdrawal of the Ebonyi REC from Osun, arguing that her presence, if not officially authorised, could undermine confidence in the electoral process.

In a separate concern, Accord demanded clarification from INEC over reports that electoral materials intended for the Osun governorship election may not be properly customised.

The party insisted that only ballot papers and result sheets specifically produced, customised and verified for the Osun governorship election should be used on August 15.

Accord warned that the use of electoral materials that are not properly customised for the election could raise serious questions about the credibility and integrity of the process.

The party called on INEC to publish the full list of officials deployed for the election and provide immediate clarification on both the alleged presence of the Ebonyi REC and the status of the electoral materials.

“Accord will not accept any arrangement capable of compromising the integrity, transparency or credibility of the August 15 election,” the statement said.
