The Justice, Development and Peace Makers’ Centre (JDPMC), Osogbo, has honoured the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Osun State, Dr. Mutiu Olaleke Agboke, with an Award of Excellence in recognition of his commitment to democratic development and community engagement.
The award was presented during the Centre’s 29th Annual Stakeholders’ Interactive Forum held on December 4, 2025.
This year’s forum, themed “Local Seeds Conservation, Native Breeds and Organic Practices: A Necessity for Strengthening Food Security,” convened key actors from the agricultural, civic, and development sectors to discuss sustainable strategies for protecting local food systems.
Presenting the award, JDPMC commended Dr. Agboke for his dedication to promoting transparency, deepening democratic processes, and fostering meaningful stakeholder collaboration across Osun State.
The Centre noted that his values and leadership align closely with its mission of advancing justice, development, and peace within communities.
JDPMC further highlighted the REC’s active engagement with civil society and local institutions, stressing that strong, credible public institutions remain crucial not only for democratic stability but also for long-term food security.
The forum concluded with renewed commitments from participants to intensify efforts in local seed conservation, organic farming, and the promotion of resilient agricultural practices that safeguard the future of indigenous food resources.
