The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has confirmed the temporary unavailability of its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), following complaints from candidates who have been unable to access the platform since Wednesday.

The Board attributed the disruption to technical challenges associated with the hosting arrangements for the admissions platform.

In a statement on Thursday, JAMB said it had commenced discussions with the hosting organisation and was working to restore CAPS to full functionality.

JAMB said, “JAMB wishes to inform candidates, institutions and all other users that the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) is temporarily unavailable due to technical challenges associated with its hosting arrangements.”

The Board added that it recognised the importance of CAPS, particularly during the ongoing admission exercise, and apologised for the inconvenience caused by the outage.

The statement said, “The Board has commenced intensive engagement with the hosting organisation and is working to restore the platform to full functionality as quickly as possible.”

The development followed complaints by candidates on social media, particularly on X, where several users reported that the platform had either failed to load, redirected them or displayed messages indicating that the site was unavailable.

Some candidates also tagged JAMB’s official X account seeking clarification, with others expressing concern over their inability to check admission status or accept admission offers.

CAPS is the platform used by JAMB to process admissions and enables candidates to view admission offers and undertake related processes, including accepting or rejecting offers.

The outage comes amid the 2026 admission exercise, when candidates are expected to regularly access the platform to monitor their admission status and complete necessary admission procedures.

Although candidates have previously experienced technical difficulties with CAPS during periods of heavy traffic, JAMB did not give a specific timeline for restoring the platform.

The Board assured candidates and other users that it was working to resolve the problem and would provide further updates as developments unfold.
