The management of Vicinity 95.3 FM, Ikeji Ile, Ijesa, on Wednesday, paid a courtesy visit to the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of Osun State, Dr. Mutiu Olaleke Agboke, to strengthen collaboration between the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the media in promoting voter education and public enlightenment.
Speaking during the visit, the General Manager of Vicinity 95.3 FM, Akolade Adekola who appreciated the REC for granting the team audience, said the visit aimed to familiarize the station with the Commission’s operations and to explore areas of partnership in advancing public awareness on electoral matters across the state.
Adekola reaffirmed the station’s commitment to supporting INEC through credible reportage and dedicated airtime to ensure that accurate and verified information about the Commission’s programmes and policies reaches the general public.
In his remarks, Dr. Agboke, welcomed the management team and commended their proactive initiative, describing the media as a strategic partner in sustaining transparency, promoting civic education, and combating misinformation during electoral processes.
Dr. Agboke further assured Vicinity 95.3 FM of INEC’s openness to continuous engagement, adding that collaboration with the media remains a cornerstone of deepening democracy and strengthening citizens’ trust in the electoral system.
The visit featured the presentation of Regulations and Guidelines for the Conduct of Elections to the Vicinity FM management team.
