The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and immediate past governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has justified the impeachment process on Governor Siminalayi Fubara, saying impeachment is constitutional.

The Minister said this after a closed door meeting with governors under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who visited him on Wednesday to broker peace between him and the Govenor.

The PDP Governors' Forum Chairman and Bauchi governor, Bala Mohammed, who was accompanied by Plateau, Adamawa and Taraba state governors, paid Wike a reconciliation and mediation visit at his FCT office.

Speaking with journalists after their closed door meeting, Wike, who told the reconciliation team that impeachment is not a military coup, but provided under the Constitution, vowed that he will continue to fight if the Rivers PDP structure is tampered with.

He boasted that nobody can intimidate him, adding that his conscious is cleared on issues in Rivers state.

He said, "Let me thank my brothers and friends for this wonderful visit. Just to appreciate Mr President for giving me this position and we will continue to work for Mr President to realise his renewed hope agenda.

"I have made it clear to everybody that I am not here for any party, I am here for the interest of Nigeria and for the unity of the country. I am still a PDP member and I have never hidden my decision.

"They have talked about the crisis in Rivers state, let me tell anybody who cares that nobody can intimidate me, it does not matter whether you bring thugs, or you say you are Ijaw. If I want to do something I will do it. Impeachment is not a military coup. Impeachment is provided under the constitution.

"About the rumours of moneys this and that, all that is rubbish. I just left office how many months ago and I am the FCT minister, which money. Nobody can take away our political structure, no one. For me, you cannot work and people will begin to bring enemies, those who fought you, nobody does that.

"I heard they said I gave a limit of what he (Governor) can do that I want 25 percent,  these are ridiculous. I am not a political ingrate, but don't touch the political structure  in Rivers state, I will not shut my eyes. I am not perturbed, I will only do what is right."

He, however said that they are waiting to see where the intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will lead to.

He said: "The President is our father, he has spoken, we will see where it takes us, but no amount of propaganda.... My conscience is clear, nobody can rubbish me. I am not the person you can go to the social media and say all kinds of things and you go free, so becareful, I have the capacity to fight back."

Earlier, Bala Mohammed, who led the team commended Wike for his maturity and his leadership role he has been playing.

He said "We are very grateful for your maturity and your willingness to accommodate and swallow all the issues and peaceable place which is Rivers state and for you to continue to dispense your onerous responsibility to Mr President in this bipartisan responsibility God has given you.

"We just came out of little crisis from his state. Because of his maturity and leadership and indeed the intervention of Mr President, this towering crisis need to be nipped in the board. We know the antecedents of Gov. Wike, we know his contribution to national politics and national development.

"We know his relationship with our colleagues, the governor of rivers state. We know his numerous qualities in politics and we are not surprise that this matter is coming to an end or has come to an end."
